Located on the south east corner of Tasmania is a world class track with spectacular views - the Three Capes Track.
A 4 day and 3 night wilderness experience with total distance of 46km the Three Capes Track is an easy to moderate grade hike.
The journey starts on the West side of Cape Pillar and finishing on the North of Cape Hauy in Fortescue Bay.
A short boat ride from World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site is breathtakingly beautiful. Pass by the Isle of the Dead, a small island where over 1646 bodies have been buried but only 180 of them marked which consists of staff and military staff. The first day finishes at Surveyors Cabin around 4km's and a 2hrs walk. Great views across Cape Raoul on the deck.
Righto! Day 2 has you hitting an 11km track for the day, roughly 5hrs walk. To enjoy the views of Crescent Bay and Cape Raoul you first must concur Arthur's Peak. Then on towards Munro Cabin to finish for the day overlooking Munro Bight and Cape Hauy.

You will get your sea cliff fix today... Massive towering cliffs pushing 300m out of the ocean. Today you can leave your pack behind at Munro Cabin and walk out and back along The Blade at Cape Pillar. Grab your pack and head through a forrest then heathland before arriving at Retakunna Cabin for the evening.
14km 7hrs
This morning Mount Fortescue summit is waiting for you to enjoy the views and walk out to Cape Hauy. Keep a lookout for the rock climbers here. You head mostly down hill from here towards to pristine sands of Fortescue Bay were you can have a chilly swim and onto the transfer bus back to Port Authur Historic Site.

The cabins are really well set up so no cooking stove or pot is needed to be carried unless you want to stop along the track and brew a cuppa. You will also need to bring your cutlery and cup/bowl etc. The cabins do not have any ovens, microwaves or fridges so your meals will need to be light, dry and nutritious perfect for the Three Capes Track. The cabins have comfy mattresses, heating, communal dining and outside decks with spectacular views.
For the Three Capes Track you will need to organise to bring 3 breakfasts, 3 or 4 lunches, 3 dinners and 3 desserts, plus daily snacks.
